ETK Reflection
This year ETK trip, we had gone to Kui-Buri. We had stayed at a resort called Sweet Honey Resort which was a really great resort for me. In my room, we had 12 people which were Alanah, ChingChing, Namphueng, Deedee, Tanyong, Seoyoung, Um, Namwhan, Bew, Inging, and Cartoon. At first, our room was too small for 12 people because there was only 1 bathroom in our villa. So the teacher changed us to the other room which we need to sit in the van to go to our room. When we saw our house we were screaminggggg....It was really beautiful and so big. It was really good living in there and it made me feel like I wanted to stay there for 1 more week. On the first day, we traveled from Bangkok to Kui-Buri for about 4-5 hours because of traffic. My advisory was the advisory that had to sit in a small van and the other advisory got to sit on the big bus. But some of the people from the other advisory also get to sit on the small van too. When we arrived at the National Park we got to eat Pizza!!! But it was bad because of there many ants in the pizza.

The Enlightenment

Overall since the start of this unit I had learned about 7 new enlightenment thinkers which were John Locke, Thomas Hobbes, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Baron de Montesquieu, Voltaire, Denis Diderot, Mary Wollstonecraft. I had learned about each thinkers’ main idea. I had learned that all of the thinkers have many difference perspective or they have many different ideas, they had a different believes too. I have learned that Mary Wollstonecraft was the only woman in this chart and she mostly talked about the equal for rights for women. The next enlightenment thinkers that I had learned about was John Locke. I had learned John Locke mostly laid more of the groundwork for the enlightenment and he had also made central contribution to the development of liberalism too. After I had learned about John Locke, I had continued learning about Jean Jacques Rousseau. I had learned that he believed that people on earth are born weak and he believed that we need strenth. He also believed that children' eeducation should be focus on his or her interesta nd women need to learn more than simply domestic chores too. I had learned one more new thing about him which was that Baron de Montesquiu had written a book called, "The Spirit of laws" too. I had also learned about Voltaire and Denis Diderot too. I had just learned about them in about 1-5 days ago....I had learned Voltaire main idea is that he didn't believe in any religion but he mostly believed and interested in the natural laws that were underlying in all religions more. I had also learned that both Voltaire and Denis Diderot was bron in France and Denis Diderot is a believer in materialism which I just know about it. One important thing that I had learned from all of this 7 enlightenment thinkers were that all of these people had meet or sometimes had read each other work before too.

Language Art Reflection
In this week in language art class, we had read the giver to chapter 14 already. We had learned many new vocabularies through Quizlet. Ms. Maria had let us do our own quizlet to study vocabularies from chapter 14 to chapter 18. Overall there were 22 or 28 words that we had to learn. In this week we had also learned about memory too! We learned about memories because, in the book the main character, Jonas was a receiver which meant he had to receive all of the memories from the giver which Jonas had to go through different pain.

Reflection - The Giver
Reflection ----- The Giver
In our language art class, we got to read a book called, "The Giver" which was written by Lois Lowry. I really like this author, Lois Lowry had written Number of Stars which I had read it before in elementary school and I really like that book. Now we had read The Giver to chapter 11-12 and it was already really good and this book is kind of easy to understand and in this book it has some new vocabularies that I haven't learn it before. While we were reading The Giver, we had done annotation, imagery, and we had done many things about Theme. In each chapter, they have their own theme in it. Some theme from the book that I had found out was to overcome your own mistakes and learn from it. The weakness that I mostly have while I was reading was to find out what the theme is. A theme is my hardest part to know. In this book, The Giver...it's mostly about the main character Jonas who had been given to be a receiver of memory. In this book, it had so many things happening which it kept me reading, again and again, every time which I can start to remember it now.
The Enlightenment Reflection

I had learned many things about the Enlightenment. I had learned many things about Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, Jean Jacques Rousseau, and Baron De Montesque. These 4 philosophers were in controlled as absolute monachy. I had learned that Thomas Hobbes believed that man is naturally evil and selfish and he also believed that man needs to be controlled. I had also learned that John Locke had made the Inalienable rights which were the 3 Liberty Life and Property. John Locke had also written different books such as the Two Treaties of Government and an Essay Concerning Human Understanding. Another philosopher that I have learned about was Jean Jacques Rousseau. I had learned that Jean Jacques Rousseau had made the social contract and he believed that man in nature is good and Society corrupts man. Another person that I had also learn about was Baron De Montesque. Baron De Montasque had made the separation of power which were President to Congress then to Supreme Court. These 4 philosophers were really important for example, John lock was really important to the enlightenment because he drew heavily on his idea and he also did the founding fathers of the American revolution.

My Identity
Based on the information you provided, can you now answer the question: What is your identity?
From all the information from the paper that had been provided, my identity is I'm a friendly, athletic and physical, hard-working, and a good friend. Also, my identity is that I can't keep secret, can talk to all people, and artistic.
How does society/environment influence our sense of identity?
For me, I think society/environment influence our sense of identity by if we have a bad society or bad environment, we wouldn't be that good person. We will follow what the environment is for example. If in my community or my environment is really bad which full of bad people. I wouldn't become friendly to anyone or I wouldn't become a good friend to them.
Finally, would it be better if you could just be yourself at all times? How do you think this would impact those around you?
I think it would be better if I could just be myself at all times. If I am myself al the time people will trust me more and people will be more likely to become a good friend with me.

Roots of Englightment
There were many starting points for Enlightenment. Humanist root enlightenment can be found in the Renaissance time, during the renaissance time they were strongly humanist too. Also, the renaissance helped created the stage of the Enlightenment. The Enlightenment had also been created because of science and logic too.

Gottfried Leibniz
The picture on the right side was a poster about Gottfried Leibniz that I was a person doing it. On the poster, it was all about his personal information, his invention, what his job, and etc. Everybody had to choose one person like William Harvey, Issac Newton, Galileo, and etc and they needed to do something that presents all the information about that person. I thought about last week we had present to each other by going clockwise and rotate around. So Gottfried Leibniz was a scientist, lawyer, astronomer, and diplomat. He was a person who had contributed more of creating calculators. From all of his work, it had made the modern day became easier in solving math problems and calculating many different problems. As you can see on the poster, you can see the Germany's flag color right? So you will know that Gottfried Leibniz was from Germany. This poster was in Scientific Revolution project. From this project, I had learned more about other people like about Rene' Descartes, Santorio, Francis Bacon, and etc. It was really fun to do this project.

What I learned this week 3
What I learned this week 3
This week I had learned many new things in both Language Art and Social Studies. In Social Studies I had learned about mind mapping and about Protestant Reformation. In Langauge Art class I had read about the Story of an Hour and I had learned all new vocabulary like Afflicted, Trivial, Peddler, Subtle, Elixir of Life, Half- concealing, and etc. In Social Studies class we had mixed up both Mr. Said and Mrs. Maria's class to do a mind map. It was really fun to work with new people and doing a mind map, I feel like our mind map was really good too. In Language Art class we had also learned about foreshadowing too. Today 1/9/17 we had` taken a quiz on a vocabulary too, and I got 100 percent. After that, we had to do a noredink about grammar. I got 80 percent because like in the quiz it has something about the work "article" which I didn't know about it. I think it's mean a subject or an object I'm not sure. If I have another quiz on noredink or a test on vocabularies, I'll try to get 100 percent full. Also as I talked about Social Studies, in my group there were Anna, Piano, Phreawa, Deedee, and Namphueng. They drew all the pictures really well. We had learned many new things about Martin Luther, John Calvin, and etc.

What I learned in School this week
What I learned in school this week?
In the last week, I had learned many new things which were about the 2 types of characterization which were direct and indirect. I had learned that direct mean when the author is exactly telling the reader what the personality of the characters is. In my understanding, I also think that indirect means when the authors show the reader the personality of the character. Also on the last Friday, we had also made an assertion too. We had made a table of what type of character is Mary Maloney had and also Patrick too. The table below is a table of the type of character of Hae So in Moon lovers. (Moon lovers is a Korean series.) Down below we had to write one word that describes this character. Then in the next column, we had to find a quote from that series or the words/sentences that this character say that shows that the character is..... smart, caring, honest, and etc. In the last column is when we had to type of "This quote shows that Hae So is......". The last column is when you had to explain of how the quote is connecting to the word you chose. It was really fun to learn these new things.
Example:
Moon lovers: Hae So
Trait
|
Evidence from Text
|
Assertion
|
1. Smart
|
“So here’s the plan,”
|
This quote shows that Hae So is smart because the people who make a plan before doing something is a smart person and a clever person.
|
2. Brave
|
“Yeah, you can kill me now if you want to.”
“I never scared of you, Wang so.”
|
This quote shows that Hae So is brave because she had talked in front of a person who had blood on their body and she just say it with no hesitation so this is why it shows that she is really brave.
|
3. Kind
|
“Are you ok?”
“How are you today”
"let’s go inside I’ll help you.”
|
This quote shows that Hae So is kind because she’s always asking people are you ok or like how are you today every time when she met other people.
|
4. Honest
|
“I didn’t kill the king if you don’t trust me you can go check everywhere in my room that I have no weapon.”
|
This quote shows that Hae San is a honest person because killing a king punishment is to die only and she just say the real thing and she wasn’t afraid to let the guards go into her room to check it.
